Community Supported Agriculture Working Party March 19th

A lovely sunny day for this working party day, though still chilly in the shade.

The muck from next door was finally too much for the ageing hand cart which gave up the ghost this time, other than that things went well as we prepared the ground for the new season, clearing some of the old Brussels sprouts and extending the beds to get more ground into vegetable growing.

The old sunflower stalks once again served us very well providing fuel for the kettle at tea-time. A low-carbon device, the volcano kettle uses the energy stored in the sunflowers from last year’s sunlight to heat up the water.
