About our flowers
Here at the Oak Tree Community Farm in Rushmere, we have two beautiful flower gardens producing traditional English flowers from May to October.
In line with our vegetable growing, we use no pesticides or fertilisers in growing these beautiful blooms, and they have the added bonus of bringing pollinators into the surrounding vegetable garden.
We grow a range of flowers over from early summer through to autumn, starting with things like Allium, Sweet Rocket, Cornflowers, Antirrhinums, Daisies and Marigolds. Into the summer we usually have Lupins, Euphorbia, Sweet William and Sweet Peas appearing. These are followed by Eryngium and Alchemilla Mollis, Echinops, Foxgloves, Verbena, Achillea, Nigella and Ammi. Then Buddleia, Rudbekia, Sunflowers, Lavender, Larkspur, Panicum and Stakys. By high summer we have a variety of Dahlias out in force, as well as Japanese Anemones, Cosmos and Crocosmia. If the weather holds some varieties keep flowering well into the autumn but all of the above is very weather dependent. We can’t guarantee certain flowers at particular times of the year!
